Thomas R. Metcalf taught British and Indian history at U.C. Berkeley. Thomas R. Metcalf was born on May 31, 1934 in New York. He was educated at Amherst College, Cambridge University and Harvard University. He has spent most of his teaching career at U.C. Berkeley, where he joined the History Department faculty in 1962.
